According to recent statistics, the success rate of mediation processes ranges between 80-85%. More and more, legislation is being amended to include provisions for mediation in disputes. In Ontario, family court locations offer a mandatory “Mediation Information Program” to all spouses/parents who have started a family court case. These sessions provide attendees with information about separation/divorce and include information regarding:
o The effects of separation and divorce on adults and children
o Alternatives to litigation
o Family law issues
o The Family Court process
o Local resources, programs for families facing separation and/or divorce
